Arriving in Kuching (City of Cats) in the pouring rain, and we immediately noticed how different it was than Kota Kinabalu. There were less highrises and more 2 storey condominiums with yards. The population was still dense but it seemed to have more of a small city atmosphere. We stayed at the Lime Tree Hotel, close to the waterfront. Our hotel was all about limes with lime green everything and a very delicious lime welcome drink. We enjoyed this on the rooftop lounge which had a nice view of the city. The hotel was small but the service was fabulous. Such a contrast to Kota Kinabalu where we did not find service very good. Language was definitely part of the barrier there. We also found Kuching more friendly overall. The boys still got the ususal stares when walking anywhere due to their blonde hair and tall sature. We went to the Top Spot Seafood Centre for dinner. As the name implies, it was on a rooftop. It looked like a giant food court that you woud see in a mall but the difference was that most of the poor food was live! We felt sorry for the little crabs and fish staring up at us a we picked out our dinner. The food was really good.
